March 5: Indian Rail Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has brought to the fore its new payment platform – IRCTC iPay – in a bid to encourage digital transactions. According to IRCTC, the newly launched payment platform IRCTC iPay will offer improved digital experience and online digital payment accessibility for the rail passengers who opt for online travel-related services through the website.
With IRCTC iPay, the payment for ticket booking can be done without the help of any third-party payment applications. Payment options including credit card, debit card, unified payment interface, and international card are made available on the platform.
IRCTC prepaid card-cum-wallet and auto-debit will also be integrated into the platform soon. As per a statement, with the new platform, IRCTC will have complete authority over the payment system as the application which handles catering, tourism, and online ticketing operations are directly acquainted with acquiring banks, card networks, and other partners.
This will not only reduce the payment failures but also lessen the gap between the IRCTC and the banks. Apart from this, if any of the transactions fail due to other errors, IRCTC, itself can connect to the bank. Here the delay of using two different applications does not come. IRCTC promises that the new payment platform I Pay will be user-friendly, convenient to use, dependable and quick.
