Lulu Terminates Cashier Rahul CP for derogatory remarks on Kerala Floods in FB

Lulu Group has terminated the services of Rahul CP with immediate effect following the derogatory comments he made to an FaceBook post requesting sanitary napkins for women staying in relief camps in Kerala due to heavy rains and flooding.

Rahul CP was employed as Cashier in Lulu Hypermarket, Bousher, Oman. His termination letter said the reason was because of the highly insensitive and derogatory comments on social media with regard to current flood situation in Kerala.

To an FB post seeking sanitary napkins in relief camps, Rahul commented “why not condoms too”. However, he appeared on FaceBook video today stating that he regretted those comments made while he was in a drunken state and apologised for the remarks. He had also said that he was at risk of losing his job and that he would not indulge in such comments in social media in future.

Prajith Kumar, Manager and Personnel and Administration said in a tweet that “Lulu Group does not condone this type of behavior and it does not in any way reflect our views and values.”
