Aug 21: Leading food processing companies have donated processed food, mineral water and milk products for supply in relief camps set up following the heavy flooding that caused extensive damage to houses, property and causing gloom across the State.
More supplies started coming after Smt Harsimrat Badal, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries appealed to the food processing companies to provide as much support possible for relief work in flood affected areas in Kerala. She has also asked the companies to provide baby food in relief camps on a request made by Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala.
-Coca Cola provided 1.4 lakh litres of packaged drinking water and would give 1 lakh litres more inclusive of 20,000 bottles.
-Britannia provided 2.10 lakh packets of biscuits (6.5 tonnes) in Kochi and 1.25 lakh packets delivered at Malapuram and Wayanad,1.25 lakh more biscuit packets to be delivered in next two days, 3000 buns and 10,000 packets of biscuits to be delivered from Madurai.
-Bikanervala will supply 1 lakh packets of Namkeen in coordination with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
-MTR Foods Pvt Ltd gave 35,000 ready to eat packets
-Nestle gave 90,000 packets of Maggi, 2 lakh packets of Munch, 1100 packets of coffee, 2500 of UHT Milk. They will supply 40,000 packets of Maggi, l lakh Munch, 1100 packs of coffee and 2500 UHT milk along with 30,000 packs of ready to drink Milo, 10,000 packs of Serigo.
-Dabur will supply 30,000 to 40,000 litres tetra-packed juices, 10,000 tubes of Odomos.
-PepsiCo gave 6.78 lakh litres of packaged drinking water, 10,000 kg Quaker Oats
-Glaxo Smithkline Beecham gave relief material worth Rs 10 lakh, 1 million packets of Horlicks and 1 million Crocin tablets to be supplied.
