Feb 7: Chinese smartphone behemoth Xiaomi will bring on to the Indian market place its new Redmi Note 7 in India. After a slew of leaks that dropped hints of the phone’s arrival, the latst doing the rounds is a press-invite which reveals that Redmi Note 7 Pro, the first water-drop notch smartphone from Redmi India, will be launched on February 12.
Even with the rumors, Xiaomi India did not give out an official date on the launch of the phone. The news is that Redmi Note 7 will be Xiaomi’s first smartphone in India with a 48 MP camera.
In its home market China, Xiaomi has already launched Redmi Note 7, 999 Yuan which translates to Rs 9,999. If marketed for the same amount in India, Redmi Note 7 will become the cheapest phone which houses a 48 MP camera. The phone will have a 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution which will be protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, the phone comes with 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB internal storage. Xiaomi is expected to launch 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variants of the phone too.
The dual camera set up will include the 48 MP Samsung ISOCELL primary sensors and a 5 MP depth sensor. A 13 MP selfie camera is placed in the front. In the normal mode, the 48 MP camera will capture 12MB images while in the Pro mode it will capture 48MP images.
The premium all-glass design phone will be the first Redmi smartphone in India to house a USB type C port. The 4000 mAh Li-ion battery is backed by the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 support via the type-C port. It also houses a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The phone houses Android 9 Pie OS with custom MIUI 10. With the features of Redmi Note 7, smartphones including Samsung Galaxy M20, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 and various other phones in the Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 price segment will be its rivals.
