May 16: Wow Air is commencing budget flights from Delhi to connect the capital city to North America and Europe. The budget services, which will be routed via Iceland, will begin its flight services from December this year.
The airline will offer budget fares for connected flights via Reykjavik, with rates starting from as low as Rs 13,499 for flights from Delhi to destinations in Europe and North America including a two-hour stoppage at the Keflavik airport in the capital of Iceland.
The fares will also cover the taxes, but travellers will have to pay the charges for meal and check in baggage separately. The fares come under the introductory offer of the Iceland-based budget transatlantic airlines.
In addition to the basic introductory fare, Wow Air will also be offering Wow premium fares, the pricing of which starts from Rs 46,599. The airlines will also have other two pricing slabs introduced, namely the Wow plus and Wow comfy fares.
The airlines upon commencing its operation in India will operate five days a week from New Delhi with its Airbus A330 Neo aircraft. Wow airline’s founder and chief executive officer Skuli Mogensen has been quoted by news reports as saying that the airlines will expand its services to other cities in India in the due course alongside offering daily services in the near future.
Mogensen also said that around 80% of the travellers from India to North America travelled with stop over, adding that the flight to US via Rejkjavik would be offering the shortest one-stop flight in between the two destinations.
