July 13: Technology major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will down shutters at its Lucknow operations centre and shift employees to places like Indore, Varanasi and Noida where it has operations.
According to reports, the employees working on different projects from the Lucknow centre have been directed to finish their projects by December or shift to the centres in Indore, Noida and continue working there. The project managers were also asked to inform team members about the company’s decision.
With the move, more than 2000 IT professionals, working at the TCS Lucknow centre, are seeing their career at TCS at the crossroads. It is said that around 50 percent of the employees working at the Lucknow centre are females, who have settled down with their families in Lucknow. The new move might prove tough for most them.
The decision by the TCS management has, in the meanwhile, forced the employees at TCS to write to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to try and ask the company management to drop the move. The TCS staffers, in a 2-page letter posted on social media, have detailed the company move, in a bid to seek help from the UP Chief Minister.
