July 2: Tata Motors has fortified its presence in the market with the launch of new-gen models like Nexon, Tiago and Tigor, and now it’s getting reflected in their sales. The company has registered in a growth of 63% in June 2018 compared to the sales during June the previous year.
While Tata Motors managed to sell 11,176 units in June 2017, the company saw a big increase in sale as the count rose to 18,213 units for the month of June 2018. Among the recently launched models, the Nexon AMT appears to be the star with an overwhelming response said to have received for the model from the customers. Nexon along with Tiago and Tigor had marked a production milestone of over 2,35,000 units.
Cumulative sales of for the fiscal (April-June 2018) stand at 52,937 units, up 52 percent over 34,858 units sold during April-June 2017. The overall domestic sales for the first quarter of the current financial year have also improved. The figures stand at 164,579, which is 64% up from the 100,141 units that were sold in Q1 of 2018. The domestic sales of the company were also up by 54% after having sold 56,773 units during the month this year.
With the commercial vehicles, the domestic sales were up by 50%, i.e. from 25,660 units in June 2017 to 38,560 units in June 2018. Cumulative CV sales growth of CV in India for April-June 2018 stood at 111,642 units, up 71 percent compared to 65,283 units sold in April-June 2017. The M&HCV segment also saw a growth of 50% at 11,524 units.
The sales have also helped Tata surpass Mahindra to become country’s third biggest passenger vehicle maker. Tata is only behind market leaders Maruti and Hyundai in the country now.
