June 22: Renault is bringing a facelift to its compact car Kwid, and now, we are getting treated with the early glimpses of it. A few images have now emerged online of the new Kwid h being testing somewhere in Europe.
By the looks of it, it appears that the Kwid won’t be undergoing a major makeover, but will only feature some minor cosmetic changes as far as the exteriors of considered. We don’t know if Renault will be overhauling the interiors, as the images reveal only the exterior looks of the vehicle.
The noticeable external changes are the changes made with the bumper both in the front side as well the rear side, and the new fog lamps. Other design norms remains the same as that of the current Kwid, including the wheels.
The Renault Kwid’s facelift variant will be based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A platform, giving the compact hatchback some additional space with the inside and boot. Renault won’t be altering the engine, and the new Kwid will also have the same 800cc engine from the first model that delivers an output of 54 bhp power. This will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and FWD system.
An interesting thing to note is that the AWD function will be absent in the upcoming edition of the Kwid. The changes are also expected to be present in the 1.0-litre variant of Kwid, though we don’t know if the changes will be brought simultaneously. Going by the timeline, we can expect Renault to incorporate the updates in its Indian vehicles by next year.
