Patanjali Sets Eyes on Farm Products, Food Processing Segment

Oct 9: Patanjali Ayurved, backed by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, is all set to market products in the agriculture and food processing segment too. News is that the company is now focusing more on this segment.

Working with the farmers on the ground, the company is advising farmers to go for organic farming methods. The company had recently revealed that they are focusing on the agricultural and solar energy sector.

With the launch of cow milk and various other dairy products, Patanjali entered the cow milk segment in September. There is news that the company is also planning to open an attire brand named ‘Paridhan’.

Baba Ramdev has been quoted as saying that Patanjali can work in different sectors of agriculture as agriculture has a huge scope. He revealed that the company is encouraging organic farming in order to bring various products based on the same. He also added that Patanjali Ayurved will be concentrating on the food processing segment.

At an event organized by the women business wing of the trade body, FICCI Ladies Organization Baba Ramdev said that the company will open around 100 stores by 2019 March. He declined to comment  on the question regarding the acquisition of the firm Ruchi Soya which is in a loss. Patanjali and Dani Wilmar were in a battle to take over Ruchi Soya and the decision is now pending in the court. With a bid amount of Rs 6,000 crore, Adani Wilmar came out as the highest bidder. Patanjali followed Adani with a bid of Rs 5,700 crore.
