Megasoft’s XIUS Bags Mexican MVNO Order; Stock Climbs

July 26: XIUS, a division of Hyderabad-based IT firm Megasoft Ltd and a leading communications technology provider to global mobile, Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) and enterprise markets, on Wednesday announced that it has been awarded a contract from Mexico-based MVNO, Cierto for its cloud-enabled XIUS Mobile Services Platform (MSP). Cierto, the first MVNO in Mexico with 100 percent Mexican investment was launched in September 2014.

Megasoft shares surged more than 5% to touch a new one-month high of Rs 18.50 on BSE intraday Wednesday after the news came in. At 11.54 am, the Rs 10 face value shares were trading at Rs 17.55, up 5.09% from the previous closing of Rs 16.70.

XIUS MSP, a comprehensive solution, is designed and developed on a Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Network (SDN) framework. According to a company statement, XIUS MSP will enable Cierto to deliver a broad spectrum of innovative and attractive services, offer the best user experience and provide incremental value to its subscribers.

Cierto currently has approximately 15000 subscribers, along with a widespread distribution network with presence across 20,000 points of sale of major ‘top-up’ chains in Mexico, it said.

Meanwhile, in another development, Soriana, Mexico’s second largest retailer, has decided to launch a mobile service with Maxcom (on Telcel’s network) as its strategic partner. Maxcom will provide it’s already deployed XIUS MSP as the core technology platform to enable Soriana’s mobile services.

The MVNO’s services are currently being deployed and will be made available in the brand name of Soriana Movil. The prime focus of the MVNO is to target people that shop at Soriana stores.
