June 26: Jet Airways India Ltd and Boeing Co have entered into agreement on June 25, where in Jet Air will purchase an additional 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
These new aircraft would come in addition to the 150 Boeing 737 MAX planes the airline had earlier ordered in two tranches. The first set was ordered in the November 2015 and the second in April 2018.
With the newly added aircraft, which is said to deliver double- digit improvement in fuel efficiency, the company will be worth $ 25 billion, said a report. Airline companies receive a discount on bulk purchases.
The report added that the order has confirmed by the officials at the company, who disclosed that the delivery will begin from 2025. The company aims to replace the aging flights with new ones. They also intends to expand themselves in the domestic market as well as in nearby countries.
Earlier this year, in April, the American multinational corporation had announced that it had received an order for 75 of the company’s 737 MAX narrow body jets from an Indian carrier. They did not reveal the company name, but the latest reports reveals that the Indian carrier mentioned by Boeing Co is Jet Airways.
