Feb 1: Places most suitable for off road trips are aplenty in India. And, most of the domestic travelers, especially youngsters, opt for off-road trips. In a way, it may even be said that youngsters have replaced tours with off road trips. Making the most of this trend would be Jeep India’s upcoming SUV.

According to reports, by the end of the year, India will witness the launch of the new Compass Trailhawk. The new car will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine along with a 1.4-litre petrol mill, the same one used in the previous model.

The new Active drive low range four-wheel drive system will be advantageous for the SUV to take on the rugged terrains with ease. For the terrain-select all-wheel-drive, the system comes with a rock mode. The Active drive low range four wheel drive system will be the prominent attraction for the SUV. Another main attraction of the car will be the hill descent control system.

Jeep India has not yet revealed any specification details of the new SUV. The company’s view is that with Fiat Chrysler Automobile, Pune, exporting units to the right hand drive markets like Japan and Australia, any specification model can be brought to India. They also added that they are still working on the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk models.

When compared to the standard model, the new SUV is higher by 20mm. Various features including the distinct alloy wheels, black bonnet decal and skid plates differentiate the Jeep Compass Trailhawk from the standard model. The recovery hooks of the SUV looks better and unique from that of the previous one. Apart from this the redesigned front and rear bumpers, unlike the one in the standard model, looks bolder.

With the off-road biased bits and sportier features the new SUV will probably be priced higher than that of the standard model. The automobile world is expecting more details of the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk in the next few weeks .
