Nov 30: EaseMyTrip, one of the largest flight booking sites of India, is expecting a 10-fold growth in transaction value from hotel bookings by end of fiscal 2018-19. The company has said that, during the third quarter of the year 2018, the company posted high growth in hotel reservations through its website.
For the financial year ending March 2018, EaseMyTrip recorded a turnover of around Rs 2300 crore, up by around 12 percent, over the previous year. This was mainly achieved through the sales of air tickets. However, the travel portal is now planning to increase its revenue by focusing on non-air products like hotels and bus booking.
Going by what Nishant Pitti, CEO and Co-founder of EaseMyTrip has said, “the company’s main concern earlier was to promote flight tickets as a key product. However, to excel in the tourism industry, the company realized that it would need to expand wings towards other products like hotels and holiday packages.
The company was doing business through hotels previously as well but now we have made everything more systemic by implementing advanced technology, lowering our rates and adding better hotel options in our inventory, he added.
As the company is continuously growing without any external support or VC funding, it looks to focus on providing the best staying experiences to customers at really good rates. Currently, the company receives around 150-200 bookings daily for hotels with an average ticket size of Rs. 6000 to Rs.8000.
By the end of the FY18-19, EaseMyTrip would have a target of 35 lakh sales every day from hotel bookings. The company has a customer base that primarily looks for luxurious stays, instead of budget hotels.
