Nov 3: Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler maker, has sold around seven lakh units in October, registering a growth of 16.4 percent. The two-wheeler major marketed 734,667 units during the month.

In fiscal 2017, the company sold only 631,105 units altogether. Meanwhile, fiscal 2018-19 has witnessed seven lakh units’ sales for the fourth time. In September, the company marked its highest ever monthly sales, by selling around 769,138 units in September.

The company recorded a strong growth even in sub-par sales in the festive season. Last month, Hero’s rival, Honda sold over five lakh with a growth of 12 percent.

Commenting on the sub-par sales, the company has stated that the significant rise in the insurance cost post this, related misperception over the coverage amount and period in the matter of two-wheeler insurance. The company expects an improvement in sales during the Diwali season, which is approaching.

With the launch of Destini 125 scooter, Hero has also entered the 125cc segment. The ex-showroom prices for the recently launched vehicles ranged between Rs. 54,650 and Rs. 57,500. The bookings for the two-wheeler have already begun. The vehicle will start getting delivered either by the end of November or in December.
