June 10: Leading manufacturer Fossil has launched its smartwatch, Fossil Sport Smartwatch in the Indian market. The company launched the watch first in November 2018. The smartwatch will be made available in India for a price of Rs 17,995. Fossil Sport is now available for purchase on fossil.in, Fossil retail stores and other partner channels throughout India.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 chipset, exclusively built for smartwatches powers the Fossil Sport which runs on Google’s Wear OS. A novel battery saving mode, enhanced ambient mode, integrated heart rate sensor, NFC, and GPS capabilities are featured in the new smartwatch. For better performance, it carries four A7 CPUs with a new DSP and for enhanced battery life it carries an ultra-low-power processor.
The chipmaker Qualcomm states that three different modes or experiences – Enhanced Ambient Mode (Beauty of Fashion Watch + Power of a SmartWatch), Dedicated Sports Experience (Battery Life of a Sports Watch + Richness of a Smartwatch), and Traditional Watch Mode (Utility of Analog Watch + Flexibility of a Smartwatch) will be offered by the processor.
The smartwatch will be available in two case sizes – 41 mm and 43 mm. Wear OS used in the watch offers features including Quick Swipe, faster access to information, proactive help from the Google Assistant and smarter health coaching from Google Fit.
When it comes to connectivity options, the watch has Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy (LE) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n options. The 350mAh battery is paired with support for Rapid Charging that charges the battery up to 80% in an hour. Once charged, the battery will have a life of one day. The battery saving mode will help keep life for two days to check the time.
