May 29: Indian e-retailer Flipkart is planning to rejig its senior executive level to bolster leadership. In a bid to take on rivals Amazon, the e-commerce firm is now seeking to rope in senior executives to strengthen its leadership team.
According to a report from ET, Flipkart is in the market space in the lookout for senior executives in at least four categories, which are head of engineering, chief product officer, chief HR and senior talent for supply chain and marketing.
According to an executive from leading search firm, Flipkart will continue its search for domain leaders in the path ahead in order to gain a larger market share. The move follows the acquisition of Flipkart by Walmart that has accelerated the competition among the e-commerce players.
Walmart’s entry into India through the acquisition of Flipkart has bolstered its rivalry with global e-commerce giant Amazon. Apart from taking on Amazon through Flipkart, Walmart will also be exploring other geographies including China to expand its online reach.
This, according to analysts, simultaneously has put Flipkart on a trajectory of global expansion, which has made the hiring of experienced executives inevitable for the e-commerce firm. Both FLipkart and Myntra will be acquiring the knowledge of better practices from Walmart in several aspects including backend and implement practices, all of which appear relevant for the Indian market.
In addition to the ongoing hunt, analysts also predict Flipkart to push actively in the market for hiring top mature talent with at least 15 years of experience in other domains including machine learning, product categories and out-of-the-box offerings.
