July 25: The board of directors of Alphabet, the Google parent, has appointed the search behemoth’s India-born Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai. The recognition comes following Pichai’s success at the top of Google, as he has been driving partnerships, product innovations and building a good growth record for the company.
Sundar Pichai had been working for long with Google since 2004, and took over the search giant’s reins two years ago. As the person in charge, Pichai had been instrumental in driving Google’s product development and technology strategy, even while looking after the company’s day-to-day-operations, said a report.
Sundar Pichai had been working closely with Google’s co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and in August 2015, he took over as the technology major’s Chief Executive Officer.
The company under Pichai had seen growth in core advertising sales and YouTube business. The company has also invested much in machine learning, hardware and cloud computing.
